“Born in 1834 on the Missouri below Williston, North Dakota. He was only thirteen years of age when he first went to war, and on this and on the next two occasions he gained no honors. On his fourth war excursion he was more successful, alone capturing six horses of the Yanktonai….He had a vision in which it was revealed to him that he would capture horses, and the vision was fulfilled.” – Edward S.
